Air conditioning is refrigeration work, not electrical work. Any engineer who installs, services, repairs or decommissions a system containing fluorinated greenhouse gases must hold an F-Gas certificate, and so must the company employing them. We hold both, so the systems we fit are installed and signed off legally from the first day.

Cooling in Summer, Heating in Winter
A modern split system is an air-to-air heat pump. It cools in summer, but it also heats. Because it moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it, it typically delivers around three to four units of heat for every unit of electricity it draws. For a home office, a converted loft or a garden room, that is often cheaper to run and far cheaper to install than extending the wet central heating system into it.
We will tell you honestly which of the two makes sense for your building. Sometimes the answer is a radiator.
What F-Gas Certification Means For You
- It is a legal requirement, not a badge. Refrigerant handling by an uncertified fitter is an offence, and it can invalidate both the manufacturer's warranty and your insurance.
- Your equipment record is kept properly: refrigerant type and charge, leak checks and any top-ups, which is what an inspector or a buyer's surveyor will ask to see.
- Leak checking is scheduled to the rules. Systems above 5 tonnes CO₂ equivalent must be checked at least every 12 months, and more often as the charge rises.
- Refrigerant is recovered, never vented. When a system is removed or replaced, the gas is reclaimed. Venting it is illegal, and the fine sits with the building owner.
- We fit low-GWP refrigerant systems such as R32, which carries roughly a third of the global warming potential of the older R410A it replaced.
Landlords, Holiday Lets and Small Commercial
If you let a property or run a shop, café or salon, the F-Gas record is your responsibility as the equipment operator, not the installer's. We keep the paperwork with the system, book the leak checks when they fall due, and hand you the record when you need it. It is the same discipline we already apply to landlord gas safety checks.

Wall Mounted Split
The standard choice for a bedroom, living room or home office. A slim indoor unit high on the wall, one outdoor unit, and a single pair of pipes between them. Quickest to fit and the cheapest per room.

Floor Standing Console
Sits at skirting level like a radiator, which suits a room with no usable high wall, a low ceiling, or a conservatory with glazing to the eaves. Warms the floor faster than a high wall unit in heating mode.

Ceiling Cassette
Recessed into a suspended ceiling and blows on all four sides, so it covers an open space evenly from one point. Only the slim grille is visible from below.
Best for: shops, salons, offices, open-plan spaces
Concealed Ducted
The unit hides in a ceiling void or loft and feeds slim grilles in each room. Nothing on the wall at all, at the cost of more work during installation, so it is usually specified during a build or refurbishment.
Best for: new builds, refurbishments, several rooms from one unit
